Texas Family Project Endorses Kristin Hanggi for Midland County Democratic Party Chair
Updated: Feb 19, 2020
Texas Family Project is proud to endorse Kristin Hanggi for Midland County Democratic Party Chair.
The county is named for being halfway (midway) between Fort Worth and El Paso on the Texas and Pacific Railway. This county is deeply conservative and has voted Republican in presidential elections since 1952. Progressives in this county need representation and having a good party chair is essential. We believe Kristin is the right candidate for the job of recruiting and supporting democrats for local offices.
Below you will hear from Kristin and her ideas to make a difference in Midland County.
“My name is Kristin Hanggi, and I am running to be Midland County’s next Democratic County Chair. I am running because it became apparent, in Midland County, I would need to run for County Chair to be invited to participate. Unfortunately the Midland Democratic Party group meetings are inaccessible to most people with families of K-12 age children and working people. At meetings I see mostly one demographic, the welcomed demographic. I want to cultivate an inclusive group culture where everyone feels empowered to pitch in, regardless of age, gender, racial background, life preferences, or monetary circumstances. And, weither someone has been a long time participant or is new to the group - everyone should be welcomed to participate!”
“Why should I win over my opponent? I have more experience leading volunteers and growing a democratic community by putting my networking and advanced technical skills to work. Many new County Chairs lacking technical skills become overwhelmed by the Texas Democratic Party’s training program because of the digital tools they are asked to learn. Unlike my opponent, I have been participating in the DNC’s and TDP’s County Chair training for the past three years and am prepared to become a County Chair.”
“My campaign’s biggest needs are realistically donations and volunteers to help canvass Midland for building an engaged Democratic community. I need to raise about $5,500 to fund direct mail and SMS texting campaigns to target under-engaged democratic voters in a predominately Republican community. Please donate $5, $25, or $50 as you are able to. And, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org to become a volunteer!”
