Texas Family Project Endorses Kendall Scudder for Texas Senate District 2

Updated: Oct 14, 2019

Kendall Scudder is a tireless advocate for Northeast Texas families. He has been active in causes to eradicate homelessness, eliminate gerrymandering of political districts, and to give a voice to the underrepresented in our community. Kendall has served on numerous boards and commissions for mentoring youth, tackling the issue of housing/homelessness, The United Way, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Texas Family Project knows Kendall Scudder is the best candidate to support Texas public education. Kendall knows that we must ensure our schools and teachers are given the support and resources that they need to succeed. He will never, under any circumstance, support school vouchers, favors increased funding for schools and the Teacher Retirement System, opposes the A-F grading system, and believes we should increase access to high-speed internet. Kendall will oppose any efforts to cut school breakfasts or reinstate lunch shaming policies, as the incumbent has done. Texas Family Project has confidence in Kendall’s support for the economic growth of Texas families. Too many rural communities in northeast Texas are struggling to keep the younger generation of leaders in their communities due to a lack of good paying jobs. Texas should seek out innovative ways to provide tax relief to local small business owners and embrace the clean energy industries of tomorrow.

Kendall Scudder believes Texas families deserve access to health care and Texas Family Project agrees. Texas has consistently been ranked one of the worst states in the country when it comes to healthcare access. We should be working with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and the federal government to ensure that every Texan has access to quality, affordable healthcare. When Texas refused the Medicaid expansion, we left billions of dollars on the table that would go a long way towards providing health insurance to the poorest of Texans, bringing all of our state hospitals up to code, and investing in preventative/mental healthcare in our state.
