Texas Family Project Endorses Audrey Spanko for Texas Senate District 1
Texas Family Project is proud to endorse Audrey Spanko for Texas Senate District 1.
SD1 can be found in northeast Texas and consists of 15 different counties including Lamar, Bowie and Smith. Tyler is the largest city in this district.
Audrey Spanko candidate for Texas State Senate District 1, is a licensed social worker, birth doula and advocate with two degrees in social work from the University of Texas.
For roughly a decade she’s worked for nonprofits and healthcare facilities helping families seeking medical care and basic needs support, and from 2016-2019 she worked in child abuse prevention for the Department of Family and Protective Services. While finishing her master’s degree, she served as an advocacy intern during the 2019 Texas legislative session. It was this experience and all that she witnessed while working as a social worker in Texas that inspired her to run for Texas State Senate.
Spanko believes she is the right candidate for this position because her education along with her professional and personal experiences have helped her understand the impact of ineffective Texas politics. She is a fighter who is willing and able to step up and fight for accessible healthcare, funding for our public schools, and an increased minimum wage.
Spanko understands the impact medical costs can have on the health of a family and she believes everyone should have access to affordable healthcare and opportunity to be healthy. She also understands how expensive it is to raise a family and that our minimum wage is not a living wage and it should be. She also believes in universal pre-k and educational opportunities for all Texans. These are all issues that directly impact families across Texas Senate District 1.
The Audrey Spanko for Texas Senate campaign needs financial support. The district is just over 10,000 square miles and to be able to reach voters and residents in every county we will need staff in the field across the district.
