Protection for Preexisting Conditions: We Have a Solution
Updated: Mar 4, 2019
Our voices have been heard!
Two Texas Democrats have filed legislation that will bring the healthcare debate from Washington to Austin. State Representative Garnet Coleman (D-Houston), and State Senator Jose Rodriguez (D-El Paso), have filed legislation, HB 565 and SB 145 respectively, that would prevent health insurers from denying coverage to people with preexisting conditions.
These bills would also ban insurers from establishing annual and lifetime limits for coverage, prevent people from being charged higher premiums based on gender and preexisting conditions, and would increase cost sharing benefits so these protections can be implemented without raising rates.
This is the first steps to protecting equal coverage for all Texans, including those with preexisting conditions but we need your help to see this through!
Here’s how you can help:
Call and write your legislators and tell them all Texans deserve this protection.
Attend a postcard writing party. Together we will urge members of the House and Senate Healthcare Committees to send these bills through for a vote.
Donate to Texas Family Project. With your support we can promote this legislation and back the legislators who will push for coverage of preexisting conditions in Texas.
